Fields Explained
Fields store important facts about pipeline records and are essential for strategic decision-making, optimizing Action rules, and enabling AI-powered analysis across your pipeline.
Field Types in PipeAI
PipeAI includes two types of fields:
- Standard Fields: Built-in fields that provide key information about each Grader Run, such as Pipe Type, Grades, Stage, and other system metadata. Some Standard Fields update automatically, while others can be manually set or configured to update via Grader Actions.
- Custom Fields: User-defined fields that live on the record. These can track any detail important to your team—like Revenue, Priority Level, or Lead Status—and are editable, trackable, and configurable.
Key Characteristics of Custom Fields
- Record-Level Persistence: Custom fields are always tied to the record itself, not to any specific Grader. Once created and populated, they remain available regardless of which Grader is used.
- Manual Overrides: Users can manually update custom field values at any time. If a Grader re-runs and has a linked question associated with that field, the Grader will overwrite the field value with the mapped input.
- Field Visibility in Graders: All custom fields remain on the record, but their visibility during a Grader session is configured at the Grader setup level. This allows different roles (e.g., SDRs, AEs) to focus only on the fields relevant to their workflow.
Updating Fields
Fields can be updated in several ways, depending on how they're configured:
- Manual Updates: Click the field directly on the record to edit its value.
- Automatic Updates: Fields can be configured to update automatically based on outcomes in the Grader’s Actions tab. This allows Grader results or Action completion to dynamically update field values.
- Question-Linked Fields: A special type of custom field that maps directly to a Grader question. When creating this type, you define the set of possible field values, link the field to a specific question in the Grader, and then map each possible response to a corresponding field value.
Integrations: Fields can be synced and updated based on changes in external systems, such as CRM platforms. Learn more about PipeAI integrations.
